James Abrahamson – Clarinet, Lynn University

Clarinetist JAMES ABRAHAMSON first experienced classical music at the age of 5 through his dad’s ringtone, which triumphantly buzzed the fourth movement of Dvorak’s “New World” Symphony. James performs with the same excitement, energy, and love for music that he felt as a kid listening to works by master composers. James has performed as principal clarinet on major works with the Eastman Philharmonia, Eastman School Symphony Orchestra, and Eastern Music Festival Orchestra. He has recorded with the Eastman Wind Ensemble and Empire Film Music Ensemble, notably in the soundtrack for Star Trek Continues. Currently, James freelances in the Boca Raton area, playing with the South Florida Symphony Orchestra, Miami Symphony, and teaches the clarinet students at West Boca Raton Community High School. He is a member of the Syzygy Wind Quintet, winners in the 2017 Lynn Chamber Music Competition. As a soloist, James has performed concertos by Copland and Nielsen, and received first prize in the Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition. James has a Bachelor of Music degree and Performer’s Certificate from the Eastman School of Music is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in clarinet performance from the Lynn University Conservatory of Music. His teachers are Jon Manasse and Sean Osborn.
