A Brief History

The University of Szeged is one of the leading higher education institutions in Hungary. The School of Music is located in Szeged, the sunniest town of this Central European country and is a member of the European Union.
The City of Szeged and The University of Szeged, (the fourth largest city in Hungary) have many ties to great masters and great musicians of their time, such as Franz Liszt who spent many years studying in Szeged, Béla Bartók who debuted as a composer here in 1910, Zoltán Kodály who was born just 50 miles away, renowned conductor Ferenc Fricsay, pianist György Sebők  and composer Jenő Huszka  to name but a few…
