QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) ranked the University of Szeged (USz) 13th of 150 leading higher education institutions in Emerging Europe and Central Asia (EECA) in its latest (October 2015) evaluation.  The QS University Rankings EECA aims to highlight academic excellence in the region where many nations have placed a high priority on internationalizing their higher education systems and research.   QS evaluates more than 500 universities and highlights the leading 150 higher education institutions using nine indicators: academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, staff with a PhD, papers per faculty member, citation per paper, international faculty members, international students and web impact.  The University of Szeged—improving its previous position—ranked 13th overall, in the top 10 percent of the leading universities in the assessment, and placed highest overall in Hungary.
